PANCAKES WITH THE PRINCIPAL
For nearly two decades, Principal Cervello has celebrated students' good behavior by making a special treat. Sundaes with Cervello is now Pancakes with Principal Cervello.
It's a once a month event to recognize one student from each class for good and kind behavior. They receive certificates to hang at home, that contain their teacher's reasons for nominating them for this special (and sweet) recognition.
VETERANS DAY LUNCH
The Veterans Day Luncheon is one of the favorite traditions at West Blvd. Elementary.
Students invite a relative or role model who served our country to enjoy lunch and a chance to talk and tell stories about their service.
MR. WILSON LEADS HOLIDAY SINGALONG
Mr. Dean Wilson may be retired, but his many years leading our young Spartans in song is so evident the minute he pulls out his guitar!
Mr. Wilson led the holiday singalong, with carols and even a video edition with teachers and staff dressed like 'elves'. The students loved every minute!!
West Boulevard has had great success with the 'Really Great Reading' phonics program. All three of Boardman's Elementary Schools outscored every other district in Mahoning County in the third grade reading assessment this year. This assessment is a strong indicator of academic success in the future.
The 'Wonders' reading curriculum, including new textbooks and workbooks as well as other manipulatives, are new to the Boardman Schools in the 2022-23 school year. The curriculum is designed to foster a love of reading in all children and to encourage them to be critical thinkers and life long learners.
